Things I am learning from my question about software development books:

1. There are probably a few good ones I should check out.
2. The state of software development books in general is about as bad as I thought it was
3. This is because programmers don't deserve nice things
Programmers: It's impossible to learn about programming from books.

Also programmers: Here are all these books that are not about programming that made me a better programmer.

Me:
If people find books with your field useless but improve at your field when reading books outside it, that's not a sign that your field is hard to learn from books, that's a sign that people are shit at writing books for your field.
