Do you know how does it feel to be depressed?

To feel like life is going to end but it still didn't?

To know that there are hardly any hope for you but you still secretly wish there is?

To not want people to contact you but you don't want to be left alone?

This is a thread.
Do you know how hard it is, to be alive but at the same time to be almost dead on the inside?

With every breath comes with dark and worthless feeling?
Do you know how does it feels to wake up in the morning and loss any interest to get out of your bed at all?

To just want to keep your eyes close so that your tears won't drop? Or if it is, you want people to know you're in pain but you don't want them to see it?
Do you know how heavy it feels on your body, when all your energy just keep losing away?

To desperately want to find the strength but it doesn't seem to be any inside you?
Do you know how struggling it is to put a smile on your face because you don't want people to see the real you behind that "laughter" and "smiley"?

To show "happiness" without anyone realising the "sadness" behind that?

For them to only see your mask but not your face?
Do you know how dark it seems in our mind, grabbing any light there, until the only thing left are the shadows?

To want to be "lighter" but the burden just keep heavier and heavier?
Do you know how challenging it is, to have a hopeless thought and feeling suicidal, no matter how much you pray to God, asking to keep those feeling away?

To not wanting to give up but your mind keep telling you so?
Do you know how conflicting it is inside the heart, taking away all your focus from the world and all you can think of is "How do I survive this?",

or worse,

"Is there any need to survive at all?"
Do you know how hard it is even when you work spiritually; reading Quran, praying, tahajud, fasting, anything you can think of, but it all just work like a temporary relief?

A panadol to hide the symptoms, to just help you deal with the pain but not the sickness?
Do you know how tiring it is to face this everyday, and become worse when people around you do not understand about this?

Their advice of "keep positive" or "everyone feels that way" were not just being unhelpful, but it also make you feel worse and guilty just for struggling?
Do you know?

1 out of 10 Malaysian are fighting these every single day, through out their life.
Every.

Single.

Day.
This silent struggle is being hide from the world, because of the stigma and the negative label given to this.

Therefore, the negative thoughts just keep circling around their head, without any chance to be vented out.
And that's not healthy.
If you are struggling with this feeling, seek professional help as soon as possible.

Walk in to your nearest Klinik Kesihatan.

Go see your general practitioner (GP) / doctors in the public hospital, or any counsellors to seek emotional first aid.
If you want to talk to somebody for confidential emotional support, or just want a listening ear,

You can reach Befrienders for free.

Google them.
Or find a trustable person that you can talk to even when they couldn't help anything other than just be a listening ear.

Because a listening ear is far better than a judging eye.
Or do anything. As long as you talk to someone.
Having this illness is not a sign of weakness.

It does not define who you are, but it is only a part of you.

You define who you are.
Your struggle is real, but so does hope.
Having a crack does not mean you are broken.
Sadness is not a sin.
It's okay to not be okay, but it's not okay to stay that way.

The reason I organised this project is because I want the knowledge of Psychology to be spread around the society,

Back to the topic of Depression.

Hopefully, we can end this thread by acknowledging & have the mindset that mental health is as important as physical health.

If we can feel sympathy and show support to people struggling with physical illness such as diabetes, cancer and so on.
Why can't we show the same emotional support and understanding to the people who are struggling with mental health issue such as depression, anxiety etc?
