Absolutely in no way saying that we shouldn't always be as careful as possible, but the idea of a future in which we can't sing together or touch people we don't live with until...when? is just too bleak to contemplate. And feels unenforceable and psychologically devastating.
What's the endgame? Vaccine is unlikely to make a huge difference. Lockdowns have worked to reduce the spread, but there must be a more granular future in which everyone isn't always asked to go against their most basic instincts of care.
Because there is a psychological impact of all this, and we can't cede all discussion of that to gung-ho 'reopen the economy' types. Some future scenarios anticipate the suspension of everything that binds us in embodied ways to others - smell, sweat, touch.
No answer to this, but finding it very difficult to look forward to the future being painted in some quarters.
