Absolutely in no way saying that we shouldn& #39;t always be as careful as possible, but the idea of a future in which we can& #39;t sing together or touch people we don& #39;t live with until...when? is just too bleak to contemplate. And feels unenforceable and psychologically devastating.
What& #39;s the endgame? Vaccine is unlikely to make a huge difference. Lockdowns have worked to reduce the spread, but there must be a more granular future in which everyone isn& #39;t always asked to go against their most basic instincts of care.
Because there is a psychological impact of all this, and we can& #39;t cede all discussion of that to gung-ho & #39;reopen the economy& #39; types. Some future scenarios anticipate the suspension of everything that binds us in embodied ways to others - smell, sweat, touch.
No answer to this, but finding it very difficult to look forward to the future being painted in some quarters.
