Thread on Indian nationalism:
1)The biggest intellectual fraud in the South Asian subcontinent is calling India one nation. It is not. India's complex social structure presents a psychedelic cultural universe, a plethora of regional distinctions, a motley complex of traditions;
2) more than five hundred languages and dialects are spoken by nearly 130 crore people. It is remarkable that this broad cultural ensemble is subsumed under a central socio-political authority, which is in itself an artificial administrative entity.
3) This authority was created by Brahmins of Congress in the late 1930s to secure their power hegemony. The idea of Indian nation coined by Congress was a political project crafted cleverly to
4) delegitimize the authority of other ethnic, lingual, religious and regional groups over what and how India should be. It was always the Brahmins and a Baniya of Congress who had a monopoly over the nationalism discourse in India. Anybody who didn't agree was called
5) anti-national. Upon one such disagreement, Ambedkar Sahib was explicitly told by the Congress - 'either you are with us or with the Britishers'. Jinnah had a similar experience when he expressed his reservations on the idea of the Indian nation.
6) Hundreds, if not thousands, of different communities with their distinct culture, history, sufferings, heroes, and languages were asked to accept India as one nation. This was a project against the idea of a nation itself. The best part of it all is that whether you become a
7) nationalist or an anti-national, the Brahmins would always win. Only Gandhis, Nehrus, and Patels can be the leaders of India, everyone else will be a Muslim leader, a Dalit leader, an Adivasi leader. Bharat Mata and 'India is one nation' are the same thing.
8) There is no reason one should sacrifice one's life for saving the idea of India. Let the Brahmins save their nation. We, oppressed communities must save our lives & properties.
9) Now, in order to strengthen the farce called Indian nationalism, state imposed one culture, one language & one religion on others. #stopHindiImposition is necessary to stop the state from delegitimising others' cultures, languages & religious beliefs.
10) Multiple nations can peacefully coexist within a nation-state and that's how it should be. We must fight the centralisation of power (social, religious, culture, lingual, political, et al), Indian state has taken control of by delegitimising other nations.
