I wish there was an acknowledgement of the wider loss to vulnerable & elderly people. The focus has been entirely on able-bodied activities but so many of us relied on specific communal spaces to get out of the house at ALL before all this. And they won't be back any time soon.
Our squashed little community centres, church hall groups etc. We're not just losing our lives, even after isolating and shielding, we're losing longer-term freedom, independence, community, company. It's a devastating change.
My community centre was the only place I could get to on my own. I don't know how long it's going to be before it's safe for groups of vulnerable folk like us to be in a room together. Excited talk of "where will you go now?" hurts. Even if it were safer, I have nowhere TO go.
