THREAD: I’ve been ringing around MPs in Herefordshire and Worcestershire about Dominic Cummings - so far we’ve got one who’s called for him to quit, ex-minister Harriett Baldwin has told our station it “would be helpful to the moral authority of the Government” if he resigned.
Worcester MP Robin Walker: “The guidelines have to apply to everybody...but his situation was extraordinary....had the police found that he breached the law, of course he’d have to go....but given his detailed response, I don’t necessarily think it’s a resigning matter.”
Redditch MP Rachel Maclean (a transport minister) has released a statement calling for “a line to be drawn” under the matter

North Herefordshire MP Bill Wiggin says he’s been “bombarded” by angry emails from constituents and is currently crafting a response, but won’t be calling for Cummings to go. “Either you believe and accept what he’s said, or you don’t.”
Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier is about to join the disgruntled camp. “The Government is spending an unbelievable amount of political capital on this, I’m not sure it’s worth it..I’ve had 300 emails, 97% are unhappy ones...he was in a difficult position, but made the wrong choice.”
Mark Garnier will be on @bbchw just after 5pm today explaining his view on Cummings, and Robin Walker will be on the breakfast show tomorrow morning. We’re still waiting to hear from the other MPs on the patch, including Sajid Javid.
UPDATE: Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier has called on Cummings to resign, saying “we’ve got ourselves into such a mess over this, the only way out of it is for him to be a gentleman about it and move on”. Also says he’s “never taken” to Cummings. “He has a certain manner about him.”
