VIDEO PART 2
Platini won three consecutive Ballons d’Or from 1983-85. He was Serie A top-scorer those three seasons – scoring 82 Juve goals in that time - despite playing as an attacking midfielder. He won virtually every major honour with Juve
Platini scored over 350 career goals, despite being an attacking midfielder, despite playing in the world’s toughest ever league for five years (which consisted of just 16 teams) and despite retiring at 31
Platini was equally prolific scoring and assisting. He had an unstoppable long shot, which he struck with ferocious power and pin-point accuracy. He scored every type of goal; right foot, left foot, headers, free kicks, spectacular goals, powerful goals, curlers, poacher goals.
Perhaps there'ss never been a player with such an impressive long pass as Platini. He had an amazing understanding with Poland star Boniek, creating numerous goals for him with amazing long-range through balls, including a crucial one in the European Cup semi v Bordeaux in 1985
Like all great players, Platini always performed when it mattered in big matches. He scored 4 goals in 6 finals at Juve, 3 of them decisive. He was top scorer in the European Cup the year Juve won it. He scored or assisted all of Juve’s semi final goals and scored final winner
And all this is without mentioning what Platini did in and for France. He did for France at Euro ’84 pretty much what Maradona did for Argentina at the 1986 World Cup. 9 goals in 5 games, two hattricks, last minute extra time winner in semi, decisive goal in final. A genius
And before people complain, I'm not calling Platini the BEST number 10 ever. I'm saying there has never been a more complete number 10 in terms of how complete his game was in every area; technical, mental, physical, tactical
