I& #39;m going to have to write a fact based post about what the Defiant was (a bomber destroyer) and wasn& #39;t (an air superiority fighter) and why the war it was designed for didn& #39;t happen (the fall of France & Low Countries) aren& #39;t I?

Also about how the Boulton Paul Defiant was a successful night fighter (best in the world, in late 1940). Like the Hurricane and Spitfire, specified for day & night combat but it was the Spitfire that failed at night.

Presentation to British Parliament pre-war. Flight archive.
The fact that almost everyone misses is German fighters didn& #39;t have the range to get to Britain before May 1940, because the fall of W Europe wasn& #39;t planned for.

Had the Defiant Sqns been deployed in N England, they would& #39;ve done well, as intended, against unescorted bombers.
