:(

deku’s a musician when he gives up on being a hero, and he grows to be an amazing one at that.

twenty-one and he’s one of the biggest names in the industry, trends in minutes, and sells out in seconds.

his boyfriend of three years is none other than pro hero, ground zero.
it’s not easy for them.

deku’s out on tour for nine months out of the year, and katsuki practically sleeps in his office and suit for his job.

they rarely see one another anymore. sometimes they rarely even speak on the phone because of timezones and busy day to day schedules.
but they make it work. they have to.

deku love him, and he knows that katsuki loves him back. just because of the obstacles in between them, it doesn’t mean that they can just give up what they spent years fixing and building between them again.

they’re stronger than that.
but deku feels weak in the knees, in the stomach, and in the chest when he gets a phone call from his boyfriend fifteen minutes before stage time, only to find out it’s just his intern.

“ground zero’s... he’s in the hospital right now, izuku. he had a bad run in with a villain.”
there’s nothing he can do.

he’s strong, but in this situation, he’s completely powerless.

katsuki has been hospitalized from a villain attack in downtown tokyo, but he’s all the way in california with a guitar on his back and an arena full of fans waiting for him to show.
so he steps out on that stage, brushes his tears off of his cheeks, and sings his heart out even if his voice breaks every five minutes.

anyone could see that he’s distracted, that he’s angry, even sad.

his guitar walks up to him to ask what’s wrong, but he brushes it off.
but when he gets to the last song, the lump in his throat grows as his visions blurs.

“can we...” his voice broke. “can i get a-a moment? shh...”

he raised his hand, his pick between his fingers as he listened to the arena’s screams slowly fade into silence.

deku sighed.
he adjusted his microphone, and then looked out to his sea of fans.

“before the show, i got a phone call.” he started, more tears welling up in his eyes as he swallowed the lump in his throat. “does anyone know about the number one pro hero, ground zero?”

screams erupted.
he smiled, raising the microphone in the direction of his crowd.

“how many of you love ground zero?” he yelled, and even louder cheers pounded against his eardrums. “yeah, me too. me too.”

he motioned for them to be quiet, and he laughed half heartedly.

“i love him too.”
he picked the shirt off of his chest, and then smiled sheepishly.

“this isn’t merchandise. i stole this from one of his hero suits.” he admitted. “i’d say don’t tell him... but something has happened. before this show, i-i got a phone call from one of his interns back at home.”
deku took a deep breath.

“he got into trouble with a villain.” he kept it simple, sweet, and a chorused gasp flooded the arena. “but kach—ground zero’s strong, and he’ll bounce back. he’s my-my strength. i’m away from home for over nine months of the year to meet all of you.”
his hand raised to his nose as he sniffled, and then he smiled again.

“it’s hard being away from him, from my mother, but it makes the time we spend so much more special.“

he removed the microphone, and then nodded to his band, who all began standing up to head backstage.
“when i have time with ground zero, what a lot of people don’t know, is that he is a musician.” he told them. “he is... amazing. he can do just about everything, but watch his language.”

some laughter bubbled from the crowd, and he nodded.

“we wrote a song together.”
the screams got so loud that he had to put his earpiece back inside.

“it is unreleased, unrecorded, and ground zero has no idea i even kept it.” he said. “there was a time i wanted to leave the music industry, but he told me i wasn’t allowed to because we do not give up.”
a roar of cheers sounded.

“thanks to him, i’m here living a dream i never knew i had, saving lives the way he does.” he shouted. “for this song, let’s get those lights up. i want them so bright that it blinds me. lets see them! light this place up like kacchan would a villain!”
suddenly, all of the flighlights on their phones were raised to him, and he adjusted his acoustic guitar before strumming to check the tuning.

“this is for kacchan.” he called out, knowing so many peoplr were recording this. “get better soon. the world needs you... i need you.”
he backed away, clearing his throat before taking his earpieces out again.

once he began to strum his guitar, he could see some people begin to wave their flashlights.

“it’s a long way home, when you’re on your own...” he sang, eyes closed as he thought of his boyfriend.
“and your only friends are traffic lights, speaking in morse code...”

tour’s a pain.

he loves traveling and meeting people, but it’s so difficult to be alone for so long.

“the road is long, and i am tired...”

there was a time where he wanted to give it up. katsuki refused.
“but with you on my horizon, i will drive until it all breaks down.”

he looked down at the neck of his guitar before shifting his gaze to the crowd.

“‘cause i can’t breathe without you near. you keep me safe, you keep me sane, you keep me honest...”

he doesn’t want to be here.
if he had a choice, a genuine choice, he’d gas the jet and take it back home, but he can’t. he has a duty.

“you keep me alive on the edge of tonight, chasing tomorrow, with fire in my eyes...”

katsuki wouldn’t want him to drop his life for him anyways. he’d be so mad.
“you’re like a siren in the dark. you’re the beat playing in my heart.”

the second katsuki would see him in the hospital room, he would blow it up before booking him a flight back for his tour. just, not before a quick kiss.

“you keep me alive on the edge of tonight...”
deku can’t remember the last time they shared a kiss that wasn’t through a camera, which makes him smile anyways.

“i spent my whole damn life trying to get things right...”

they really have grown and matured since they were younger. before, they couldn’t even sit by each other.
now he had an entire area waving their lights for a song they cowrote together while lounging on their bed.

“and for every one of my mistakes, you gave me all these chances...”

and katsuki had dropped his name when accepting his medal for being the number one hero.
“so when the road’s too long, and i am tired...”

some of the fans have even started singing with him by now, and it makes more tears fall down his face.

“baby, you are my horizon, and i’ll drive until it all breaks down.”

his voice broke, but he shook his head and laughed.
after this, he’ll call his boyfriend’s intern back for more information, and sulk in his tour bus with his ground zero plush.

or, that’s the plan until he gets a call right after he steps off stage.

“you f-fucking nerd, i’m suing you for my song. earphones was in your crowd.”
izuku covered his mouth, a smile on his lips as he listened to his boyfriend’s ragged breathing.

“k-kacchan? are you okay? h-how are you? what happened?”

“as if some shitty villain could kill me. it’s nothing major: fractures, sprains, cuts. i’ll live to see our court date.”
he choked out a laugh as he used the wall to keep his balance.

“i love you.” he whispered. “you have to be more careful. kacchan, i need you.”

“i know.” he hummed. “i’m here.”

“can you say it in the all might voice?” he hoped.

“i’m going to hang up on you, deku.”
“when i get to my bus, can we video call? i miss you so much. our last call was four months ago.” he said, and katsuki sighed.

“fine! we’ll do what you want!” he pretended to argue. “i... miss you too. your tours piss me off so much.”

“i’ll be home soon.”

“i’ll be waiting.”
