So what if Andrés is alive and he’s being held by the police. After Sergio gets caught by Alicia, he’s taken to the secret facility where they’ve been holding him for three years and they make him choose: “Betray your friends in the bank, or let your brother die.”

It’s a little nod to Andrés’s speech at the wedding where he says, “Betrayal is an inherent part of love.” And it makes so much sense because it’s not just his friends who are in the bank anymore. RAQUEL IS THERE TOO. RAQUEL HIS FIRST LOVE!!!!

This whole heist was sort of Sergio’s way of mourning his brother. He’s been having dreams about Andrés. Wakes up in the middle of the night because of them. He had to do the Bank of Spain heist, his brother’s “obra maestra” —-

He had to recruit MARTÍN. Undoubtedly one of the most important people in Andrés’s life. “I’m going to steal the gold. And I won’t do it without you.”

The last two seasons focused heavily on Andrés and Sergio’s relationship. It would make so much sense to build up to something that relates to that. I mean, they could have probably transported Lisboa somewhere else, why did it have to be the bank??
