My weird lil games I've released recently are laid out on mobile in Adobe Spark. I've been struggling with focus & headaches again so working at my desktop has been overwhelming, but I still want to get my lil ideas out there. When I have a number of them, I'll collect on itch.đź’™
It is often really hard working with the long term results of my head injury combined with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, attention issues, bipolar disorder, anxiety, PTSD, migraines, and multiple other health issues (hypothyroidism, PCOS, etc.). But I still try to put out work!+
The thing is, sometimes that means changing mediums, working in odd ways, or just taking a really long time. My freelance clients are thankfully mostly patient with me, but it does impact interviews (just like interviewees not responding does), & it does impact solo design.+
I actually don't talk on this account very much about these struggles, & I try to keep it "professional." But there is yet another dust up in the community that triggers trauma responses for me & will make work harder, & I'm angry & hurt about it. I have to fight my body daily,+
I feel it's cruel I should also have to fight my industry & this mockery of a community we claim to have. On that note:

For the foreseeable future, I want to focus on individual interviews that look at the overall work of creators, not just the current project they're creating.
This means if you want to promote a project, you should plan a longer lead time for the interview (so contact me before your Kickstarter/release by a few weeks, not during) & we talk about it for half of the interview, then talk about your work & design ethos for the rest of it.+
You should also consider contacting me even if you don't have a Kickstarter to do an interview about you & your various works.
Why am I doing this?
Because while I do Thoughty partially for money, I don't want to do it just to be a Kickstarter promotion machine. It feels gross.+
I also want people to know more about the designers they're supporting. It's cool to know about a project specifically, it's better to know who is making it & why, & the current plan doesn't allow for that.

For repeat interviewees, I'll still offer shorter format interviews.+
That's starting after this point - we're going to operate on a clean slate, where everyone is like a brand new designer to me. We have such a huge influx of new designers, it's only fair that I give them equal footing to my big name interviewees. It's still via email & brief.+
I can't operate solely to promote the capitalist monolith. I need to promote designers to help them fund projects to survive & succeed, but I can do that while better informing my readers AND doing the designers justice. This also makes it easier to interview artists & more!+
I plan to convert this into a blog post later, but wanted to kind of talk through my process for y'all here & share why things have been happening as they are. Thoughty needs to grow and change because the industry & scene are growing & changing, & I need to change with it.+
Please feel free to ask questions and retweet this thread! These changes will roll out over the summer along with some other things (like, I'd like to feature a Black and Asian creator at least every other month!) so bear with me, as it's going to be some big work. 💙💙
