This deadly virus has been a whistleblower of sorts.
While we seek to prevent exposure to the virus, it has exposed us in the process. It has shone a spotlight on the many issues that plague our societies.
(thread) No one hides from its revelations. (Even when you try to hide its existence, it doubles down and makes sure that the data fudging leaps out from buried documents.) It is the child that recognises the Emperor has no clothes.
(thread) Puff-chested Governments that pledged macho strength and glory, have had the wind taken out of their sails. Their enacted confidence starkly contrasted against the rising figures of mortalities.
(thread) The virus has unmasked the privilege of class structure societies, revealing how a vote bank populace are treated at the first sign of calamity.
(thread) As countries have tried to retroactively beef up their medical supplies, the virus has revealed that outpacing it is a poor alternative to having anticipated its arrival.
It has exposed the religious fault-lines, that have been painstakingly dug in by factions over years. And their uselessness in the greater scheme of things.
It revealed the false image of globalisation, forcing countries to abandon their trade 'allies' at the drop of a hat.
The virus made public the destructive nature of our economic industries - our fossil-fuel, forest-ravaging, water-polluting systems, that we thought couldn't be stopped for a day.
The virus leaked true Intent - those working for the greater good vs only for their own good.
(thread) It has divulged the greatest secret of all - that in our daily struggles, positive human contact is the greatest gift.
We can work from home, but we can't connect from home.
(end of thread) At the same times the virus has also unveiled the better part of people. The undercurrents of cooperation and humanity generated in the lockdowns is the strongest defence agains the virus.
