A short thread:

The key issue with the media right now is it& #39;s not about finding facts, it& #39;s about claiming scalps.

George Eaton celebrated getting Roger Scruton sacked on lies. Has the Mirror and @PippaCrerar apologised yet for misrepresenting Cummings?

#DominicCummnings
The idea Cummings made multiple trips up north? A lie. Lived with his parents? A lie. He didn& #39;t even attend a family members funeral because he was still isolating.

The result of the coverage though? That& #39;s horrific.
You have Labour MPs celebrating him being harassed on the street.
You have journalists harassing his parents https://twitter.com/NSP55/status/1265043854283210758?s=19">https://twitter.com/NSP55/sta...
You have political pressure groups blasting the street with a video outside his house, disturbing his wife and a vulnerable child.

Led by Donkeys? They& #39;re absolute donkeys. https://twitter.com/samholdertv/status/1264529136741240834?s=19">https://twitter.com/samholder...
All this because he made a trip to an estate to protect his kid. He wasn& #39;t living with family, they were just on the same estate in case his kid needed help.

His kid who was hospitalised a few days later.
All the way down to the coverage, this isn& #39;t about if someone did wrong or not. It& #39;s about trying to hound someone out of public life.

"The media don& #39;t pick fights they can& #39;t win" has been a phrased used often. Why is it a fight to begin with? Why is it not just reporting facts?
I don& #39;t know if Cummings did wrong or if he didn& #39;t. But we live in a free society, one where guilt is proven, not assumed.

Yet the media seems to be flipping that on its head because harassment sells.
We know it sells. It& #39;s sold for decades. We see it with celebrities all the time.

Who cares about the individual? Or if the evidence isn& #39;t enough to prove what& #39;s being claimed? Or the lives that might be ruined from the campaigns.
This culture is toxic. It& #39;s been toxic for celebrities for decades and caused suicides. It& #39;s been toxic for sports stars for decades. It& #39;s now sipping into politics.

The issue is with politics people seem justified because their are "sides". Others suffer? You& #39;re just winning.
