It’s so good to finally be able to get back out and visit some of the #chalkstreams in the @ChilternsAONB Today were restarting a project with @chilternrangers, that got halted by the lockdown. This side stream of the River Wye, is in need of some habitat enhancement!
It’s been overwidenednin the past for ornamental purposes. Now the landowner has kindly agreed to let us restore it back more to a natural state. Oh and take out an old weir 😎 👍
There are certainly worse places to be today!
First task today is to do something about the weir in the middle of the section. To be honest it won’t take much. It’s pretty rotten. Here it is at the half way point. Letting water levels settle before taking the rest of it out. @chilternrangers @ChilternsAONB @ReviveTheWye
The weir is no longer impounding flow and a little #chalkstream is beginning to appear! @ReviveTheWye @chilternrangers @ChilternsAONB
Just an hour on and the gravel bed is beginning to appear!
