Character dissection:
Sasuke uchiha- A journey for justice

Sasuke is a character with such a divided line between fans, some absolutely hate him while others absolutely adore him.

I think Sasuke is Naruto's best written character.

here's why.
Sasuke is the second born son of Fugaku uchiha, they named him Sasuke after the third hokage in hopes he would become a strong shinobi.
In the uchiha family prodigies are common but,one prodigy stood out above them all, sasuke's older brother itachi.

Sasuke would spend the younger years of his life living in itachi's shadow
It's important to state that even though he was constantly one upped by itachi he never formed any type of grudge against his brother, it was quite the opposite actually, he adored and admired his brother and Sasuke would use his admiration for itachi as-
- a motivational tool to improve himself as shinobi and prove himself to his father.
During his time with team 7, sasuke had developed a superiority complex, every time Naruto had grown stronger it was like a rug was ripped from under his feet.
Sasuke would train too feel content with himself to immediately after that have Naruto surpass him immensely at an alarming rate.

As a result Sasuke would feel insignificant and weak.

"If he can't beat a dunce like Naruto, how could he ever defeat someone like itachi"?
As coping mechanisms he would belittle and challenge Naruto,to make sure he was ready for when his time to battle itachi came.
The uchiha massacre had a contrasting affect on Sasuke's psyche, not only did he get a case of PTSD,it had turned him into an absolute introvert and he would base every major action in his life on what itachi would do in that situation and he would do the complete opposite-
Because he saw itachi as the pinnacle of evil in the world.

(That's why Sasuke decided not kill Naruto during they're encounter at the valley)

Sasuke believed that because they shared the same blood it was his burden alone too cleanse the world of that specific "evil".
To Sasuke another person's opinion meant nothing, even if those opinions came from the people closes to him.

All opinions except his own could potentially derail him from his life long goal of killing his brother.
But, Sasuke's worst fear had came true,
He had realized at one moment in time he was at peace with himself and once he became aware of it he decided to seek out orochimaru.
At the beginning of Shippuden when we are introduced to Sasuke, it was shown that he had taken down a platoon of shinobi but,not a single one was killed

Sasuke vowed too himself that itachi would be the only life taken during his quest for justice.
(orochimaru was an exception, Sasuke killed him because he thought he was no better then itachi and now that he had the power to do so, orochimaru served no other use)
When Sasuke had formed "taka" he freed the former prisoners and he allowed the members of "taka" to chose wether or not they would follow him on his journey-
- showing a leniency and mutual respect for the members of taka.
Once Sasuke killed itachi is when he truly showed the range of his character.

Some people still believe that during the Shippuden Sasuke was at his most inconsistent.

That's not true at all.
If anything during Shippuden Sasuke was at the peak of his character.

Sasuke would only change his goal when new context was given.

Sasuke would change his goal two times after this.

First goal:destory the leaf

Second goal:was revolutionize the world
The first goal made absolute sense.

Let me to explain.
Once Sasuke had found out the truth about the hidden leaf ,that fact that the people of the hidden leaf were alive and thriving because the sacrifice of his brother, his clan and his own life, they would become his new beacon to direct his anger towards.
To Sasuke the leaf would be the place he would focus his anger on and invoke his "justice".

His introverted nature came in to play when he stated , he didn't care for itachi's wish to protect the leaf.
His desire to destroy it wasn't for itachi but, for himself.
(Sasuke would kill people in his way because..."If the leaf could do it,why can't I?", He would think one warning would be enough if the truly wanted to live)
His second goal of revolution was a solution he came up with after the war, once he heard the story of the past hokage,he truly saw how much a failure the ninja system and society were.
The fact that they're were other children and people that would suffer the way he did, didn't sit right with him .

So as a solution he would take all the darkness of the current ninja system and act as beacon,to then rebuild everything anew,by himself...
He is also the perfect foil to Naruto personality wise, design wise and thematic wise.
