When ppl share their trauma, they are not the story teller for your entertainment at morning tea, to be enjoyed with coffee & cup cakes. They are doing more then anyone else in terms of re-living, re-experiencing those moments in time.
If a Sorry Day Morning tea was held - did you think to have support for those sharing their experiences, or others who may have family members impacted by these polices
Did anyone think about current day issues. And how Aunties, Uncles and Grandparents who may have been stolen are now caring or fighting for the return of family due to a broken child protection system.
What are you doing tomorrow? You’ll go back to business right. Meanwhile those emotions, thoughts and feelings will be present because they shared their experiences. Are you following up with those people to ensue they are ok?
National Sorry Day is not for the outsiders observations to guilt trip White Australia. It is to ensure the real history remains present and those survivors and those who didn’t come home, are heard and their pain acknowledged.
We have a Government system that maintains its stance to contain and condemn Indigenous people and communities within its structures.
