I have now listened to a half dozen wraps by ABC journalists of the #NPC speech Morrison gave today as I am genuinely struggling to follow what they are talking about.
it seems like barely five days since the Treasurer announced the biggest cut in Australian history to any government spending program ever.
how can they report a $60 billion cut to a jobs program on Friday and report a jobs plan on Tuesday? Do they seriously think that the party of business destroying jobs, so as to take credit for creating jobs, is anything but expensive, wasteful, harmful gaslighting politics?
Morrison pulls $60 billion from “job saving” funding and re-purposes it to “job making” funding. He is seizing Commonwealth control of blue-collar sector spending on training. This is straight up swinging voter marginal seat campaigning. How hard can it be to see? Are they dense?
because what Morrison is doing is not policy but comms strategy - he is campaigning - the press gallery are crucial to its success. And that “success” is measured not by the conditions in society or state of the economy, but by fabricated figures and winning the next election.
two days ago while campaigning, Morrison let slip that the “next two years” is his working timeframe. Today at the #NPC he cited 3-5 years as his timeframe. There is a reason for that. It is ridiculously obvious. But the gallery are not listening to him. https://twitter.com/imusing/status/1264397301381914624?s=21
