A thread - Starting today as SoMe Editor for @BMJ_PO is a great opportunity to introduce you to an overlooked gem of a journal.
I ran a recent totally unscientific twitter poll (which satisfyingly had exactly 100 responses) which demonstrated that 60% respondents had never heard of the journal and a further 20% had heard of it, but had never used it.
So, let me introduce you to @BMJ_PO - it's a relatively new journal having launched in May 2017 and is co-owned by @RCPCHtweets and @bmj_latest and is an open-access journal meaning that all published articles are free to read.
#FOAMed
The journal is dedicated to publishing original research, clinical reviews and protocols to deal with any aspect of child health. The really good thing is the journal recognises that child health provision is multidisciplinary and so welcomes papers from all HCPs.
Unlike traditional paper journals @BMJ_PO is published continuously online and aims to operate a fast submission process to ensure timely, up-to-date research is available worldwide.
The acceptance rate for papers in 2019 was 60% with a mean time form submission to first decision of 23 days and a mean time form acceptance to publication of 22 days. Fast.
The thing that is really noticeable is that @BMJ_PO takes a truly global view and aims to be an advocate for child health in all countries and communities around the world
