For me, a decade ago, #HongKong was always both a difficult & rewarding place to live. I loved my time there.

Difficult because of the pace/tempo of life was always incredibly fast. I always felt tired & underslept, despite being in my peak years (the 20s).

Also difficult because everything, and I mean everything in Hong Kong is expensive.

This includes insane rental prices for very small units. Most expats eat out & that has a massive price tag on your budget — especially when young & single if you have a girlfriend (or three).
There were other difficulties including declining English, which sometimes made it difficult to get things that.

However, the city was also incredibly rewarding. I think, for starters, HK has the most restaurants in the world per square kilometer.

An incredible choice of food.
I'm a bit of a foodie, so I loved that part (my budget did not like it as much as me).

Also the bars & nightlife scene in LKF (Lan Kwai Fong), Soho, Wan Chai, and other places were fantastic during my time.

We had people from NYC coming in & saying HK was incredible!
Most people think of Hong Kong as a concrete jungle, but there are actual real jungles just on the other side of the mountains.

The beaches, islands, forests, hiking trails, and mountain peaks around HK are just amazing if you love spending time in nature.
But the most important aspect of being young in HK, at least for me, was incredible networking & business opportunities.

I came there with basically nothing, especially considering high cost of living. But I left well on my way to my first million.

Never forget my time in HK.
I remember meeting so many young people with ambitions & that city ate them alive, as the saying goes.

For me, it carried wonderful lessons for life & taught me so much. I have found it far easier to accomplish things elsewhere in the world because HK's competition prepared me.
