a thread of my personal take on itaewon class:

it's been months since i finished the drama but the frustration still lingers that saeroyi ended up with yi seo instead of soo ah. albeit soo ah met a gorgeous young man in the end of which was portrayed by bo gum and that implies a new love spark, i still ship her with saeroyi.

it's not that I didn't like yi seo. i started to actually like her when the drama was already in its climax, she was a genius and extremely competent youngster. danbam wouldn't have made it without her marketing skills. after all, she's the backbone of danbam.

it was clear that saeroyi loved soo ah from the start. he was vocal towards his feelings for soo ah. however, it was only just that; he didn't really hit on her. soo ah was actually the same. they love each other but did nothing much about it.

but of course, saeroyi was too adamant in seeking his revenge for jangga co. soo ah knew that better than anyone. she knew saeroyi's utmost priority, thus, she stayed away, stood still from her place, and waited for saeroyi to finally hit on her.

yi seo, on the other hand, was not only vocal about her feelings towards saeroyi, she made sure that he's receiving every ounce of her love and that was why he fell hard for her unknowingly. this drama actually led me to an epiphany: you can learn to love a person.

i can't deny the fact that soo ah was at fault too for not treating saeroyi right, but in the end, it was her who singlehandedly destroyed jangga co. no one knew about her revenge. in all those years, she was a lonely fighter.

on top of that, saeroyi made a promise to soo ah, but he didn't fulfill it. he had a change of heart. soo ah's waiting was put to waste. in the end, they were still stuck at the almost-lovers-line.

these are the grounds as to why i root soo ah for saeroyi. if things had been different, if they weren't just entangled with the circumstances, they would surely end up with each other. after all, they were each other's innocent first love.

again, this is just my personal take on the drama. our preferences might vary but it does not mean that one should be invalidated. everybody's opinion is equally valid. i also knew that itaewon class was based on the webtoon of the same name.
