The Myth of a “Femicide” in SA:

The mainstream & official government social discourse characterises the problem of violence in SA as a “Femicide”, this despite evidence showing violence primarily affects men, especially poor black men.

A Thread!!!
“Femicide” is officially defined as the killing of a woman or girl, in particular by a man AND ON ACCOUNT OF HER GENDER.

In order words, it is the GENOCIDE of the Female i.e. Female + Genocide = Femicide.
In SA, & especially among the Feminist groups, this word is loosely used to label any incident where a woman is murdered, especially by a man. The motivation & circumstances of the killing becomes irrelevant, because Gender is always the reason, in their minds.
In terms of its formulation, there is no difference between the narrative of a “Femicide” & that of a “white genocide” in SA.

In both cases, the respective interest groups are more interested in the death of their “own”, than the actual victims of violence.
Now let’s talk the numbers,

In terms of the recently released crime stats, there were 21 022 people murdered in SA the previous year (i.e. average 58 daily).

Out of this 58 people, 49 (84.5%) are Male & only 9 (15.5%) are Female.
These numbers mean that there were around 17 913 Males murdered in the previous year, compared to only 3 109 Females.

Broken down, this means 61 Males were murdered for every 100 000, compared to 10 Females for every 100 000 population.
Broken down further, these numbers also translate as follows. In SA on average;

A Male is murdered every 30 MINUTES,

A Female is murdered every 3 HOURS,

SIX (6) Males would have been murdered before the Female is.
The characterisation of the violence in our society in terms of a “Femicide”, despite evidence to the contrary, simply proves the double standards of our gynocentric society.

Women’s lives are more valuable, their suffering draws more compassion, while men a disposable.
