something that irked me in my lang&culture classes was when they'd say the blanket statement:

"when ppl codeswitch, they're not doing it bcuz they don't know the word"

well ACTUALLY I often codeswitch cuz idk the word and i know my GPs will get me lmao like hello? do I exist??

or there were other times where the professor would give an example of an ~inauthentic~ codeswitch & it's actually something que yo diría or seems fine to me. lmao.

there are these ideas that sine linguists/linguistic anthropologists float around of what authentic codeswitching is and isn't and I think that's harmful.
