I just finished watching Brave with what was supposed to be the family, but I was the only one actually paying attention to it because I& #39;m trying to mentally critique it.
Everyone else either went away to do something else partway through the film or just auto-piloted the rest about halfway in.
I totally understand, though. This movie... has some bizarre writing. I& #39;m genuinely baffled by how just... weird it is?

I think, on paper, the plot& #39;s concept is simple and works well. In execution, I think the story was stretched a little too thinly. So many elements felt longer than they needed to be, especially the inter-clan fighting in the first half and the bear chase in the second half.
Of course, the visuals are amazing. With this movie, Pixar took a big step forward with hair physics and started toying with particle effects more. The crane shots of the forest and the scenes with Merida riding through the woods stuck with me; they& #39;re really well done.
The music, while not all memorable, was good. Merida& #39;s Home, though only heard in the credits from what I can recall, is my favorite song in the film& #39;s score. It& #39;s a soaring instrumental cover of Touch the Sky, and it& #39;s excellent. https://youtu.be/67kw3SpT42Y ">https://youtu.be/67kw3SpT4...
This track is nostalgic to me, too. The last times I visited the Disneyland Resort with my school friends, whether from the choir or from the graduating class, happened during Pixar Fest, and this song was a part of its esplanade loop. https://youtu.be/1N-3T3uiRMg ">https://youtu.be/1N-3T3uiR...
