My mom is a grocery cashier making $13/hr & every fckin month she struggles to make rent. It breaks my heart knowing that she’s getting older and it’s going to be a while until I can financially support her
Do any other low-income/first gen kids feel an immense guilt knowing that their parents led such a tough, poor life yet they still gave everything they could to you, and you can’t even pay it back until they’re elderly & worn down from the stress of surviving
The guilt is insurmountable knowing that the whole reason I’m able to lead the life I do is because my mom put me & my education first always. At the cost of her livelihood. It’s a weight that I don’t think I’ll ever get used to carrying.
