Peak dad behavior. Switching off Wi-Fi at 10 in the night and it's back on at 6 AM. 😒
Reminds me of the time they used to lock the land-line at home. 🙊
I was nonchalant about the whole thing though I was fuming inside. So I'd just flick coins from purse, pockets and shelves. The glorious days of STD booths with the drop coin system for local calls 💛
Then to find a booth that is inconspicuous yet comfortable. Preferably one that has a stool and a kutti fan in that enclosure/cubicle for additional comfort. Also booth Anna/Akka who don't give you dirty looks cos you keep coming every day at the same time.
Oh the signalling business. Two rings, cut the call, wait for an entire minute before you call. 😂 I can write pages about 'signals'. It's amusing how the elders in the family always knew what was happening but pretended to not notice.
Real friendship was sharing your mobile phone. I'd one true friend like that. From 10 to 4 pm her phone belonged to me. Every msg meant paisa deduction. Calls were not free. But they wouldn't mind.
Kids these days have it so easy. With camera phones, 4G connection and social media there is a feeling of being connected 24 X 7.
The pain of not being able to make a call when you want to, missing a call, travelling to a place with no phone is something they cant comprehend
It's nice to have been part of that era and to also enjoy what life holds for us now. One feels so restricted cos of the lock down. Sure, yeah. But not everything happened according to our whims n fancies say even 15 years ago. Spoilt we have become.
