I’ll give an example. Was in Louisville, KY over the weekend. Long story short, my wife’s job is there, and we have a small place there for her to stay. (And we genuinely enjoy the city/area). Its pretty striking the tone the state’s Governor @AndyBeshearKY takes
I watched his daily news briefings. He is upbeat, positive, and rallies people by encouraging and modeling good and responsible behavior. This isn’t partisan in the least. KY is a deep red state. (And my friends in OH have high praise for GOP GOV @MikeDeWine)
And yet, in Louisville, which I realize is a huge liberal/democratic bastion in the state, every business, restaurant (we dined out twice! 🙌 to @MonnikBeer and @impellizzeris), etc., took extra steps to follow state and CDC guidelines.
When we were out to eat, or shopping for home improvement supplies, I’d say easily 80% were wearing masks, leaving space, etc. And I see the same in Green Bay, even with restrictions entirely lifted here.
The vast majority of people are trying their best to adapt to new norms and rules. Not perfect. And it won’t be. That’s something we will have to accept as we learn to live with COVID-19
But instead of focusing on isolated crowded pool parties, armed protests, and the like, we need to remember that most people are trying to do their part to limit the spread. And we should tell those stories./Fin
And good story by @ZimmermanWBAY tonight at High Cliff State Park showing exactly this.
