Happy to talk to any #Match2021 #pediatrics applicants. I was a #firstgen & non-trad student @dgsomucla. I picked @UWPedsRes b/c of my interests in #healthequity, general academic peds, & research/advocacy. Top 5 reasons why I’m so happy to train here: #pedstwitter #medtwitter 1/ https://twitter.com/wtpowell/status/1262933094119555073
#5: The @UW is a research powerhouse! I'm interested in academic pediatrics, and have had tremendous mentorship already as an R1. We also can get protected research time (can’t wait to work at @HIPRC w/ Dr. Fred Rivara!) Ample room for collaboration w/ @uwsph too 2/
#4: A commitment to #healthequity. Our inclusion, diversity, equity trainings span the year. We're building a pipeline for HE leaders, w/ a new HE + REACH tracks, and a new child health equity fellowship. Keep an eye out for our launch of #HealthEquityRounds (HT: @The_BMC!) 3/
#3: Engagement in advocacy. I love how many faculty & residents at @UWPedsres are deeply engaged w/ the @WCAAP + local community issues. A fond memory this yr was advocating along side Dr. @CoraBreuner on Legislative Advocacy Day in Olympia! 4/
#2: Incredible depth+breadth of clinical training: from quat. care at @seattlechildren + @UWMedicine, to immersion in community peds at local + WWAMI clinics. My continuity clinic training from leaders like @anisai, @BethDH, @SuzinnePG, @bdj8824 at @harborviewmc is invaluable 5/
#1: I love my @UWPedsres fam, led by @hmcphillips @srooh et al who've brought together the very best (my cointerns are smart, collaborative, caring & fun) in an atmosphere of support: weeklong intern retreat, jeopardy system, wellness 1/2days, meal $, prof dev advisors, & more!//
