left/liberal white guilt culture is essentially a secularized form of whatever New England Puritans once believed. instead of assessing white supremacy as rooted in material disparities 'whiteness' itself is posed as this original sin that must be confronted through self-denial

white liberals are obsessive about what personal offenses they have done to poc and yet refuse to acknowledge many of the larger structural implications of racism in part because they only understand racism as a matter of atomized personal practice where they are centered

incidentally within this theology if the guilty white person is the perennial sinner, the implication is that poc have suffered racism 'for' white sinners, that the relationship between poc and racism is framed as one of quasi-saintly martyrdom rather than human oppression

if my thesis holds this would explain the often bizarre and pervasive fetishization of poc by the type of liberals/leftists i am describing, as well as the enormously self-absorbed self-flagellation they are constantly undergoing that seems to yield surprisingly little reflection
