When I’m having trouble or just struggling with something, I always try to “think bigger” to make it seem smaller. It’s still something I have to deal with, but it’s a trick that helps me take the weight off so many situations.
Example. Stuck in the house. Feels constraining. I think about the world as a whole. Billions of people’s and animals. Then I move to the moon, sun, planets, galaxy, universe and remind myself we’re just a part of a giant explosion. I’m here for the ride. Lucky to have the chance
Or if I’m unhappy with how the world works. Power, politics, people not getting along, illness, etc.I remind myself I’m a product of 200,000 thousand years of evolution and policy change. Lucky to be living here now.
Lucky to have the chance at all.
I’ll slowly slip back into my bubble where all my thoughts and concerns seem so big and so heavy and consume me, but I go through the process again. Think big.
Now that I’m thinking about it, this is how I rationalize a lot of things now that I’m not religious. This is all too crazy so I still believe in God/creator (name doesn’t matter to me)and I give thanks. Lucky to be here. Lucky to have the chance at all.
It works in reverse too. Only think about yourself and your bubble and those things will be big big big
