Ppl always say “if you need help - ask!” But when someone REALLY needs mental help they are not in a position to do the sleuthing and paperwork necessary to actually FIND it in this country, let alone ask for it. Mental healthcare should be easier to find and use than a mailbox.
I have been healthy and I have been sick. When you are healthy - especially if you have never been sick - you have a hard time fully understanding how debilitating it can be. Maybe this is just another empathy failing in our cool individualistic culture. You did it Ayn!
I’m not talking about asking for / not asking for help. I am talking about FINDING help. And a hotline is not therapy.
I’m also not asking for personal help or advice. I am talking about a systemic problem. It shouldn’t be 100 times easier to find a dentist than a therapist.
