Before the 26th of May 2018, African Artistes could only dream of performing at the O2. One of the largest stages in the world, the 20k capacity is the dream of any performer in world. Even some UK based artistes find it difficult to play this stage.
So for Afrobeats artistes,all most could do was dream. The O2 itself is not an easy stage to book,talk more of selling out. African artistes were playing the smaller venues, doing so well selling out 2k,3k venues in the UK,but none dared to play the O2.
And then one young man,WIZKID decided to do so. Wiz took it up to himself to play the venue. For we the fans it was a huge announcement. What!!! WIZKID playing the O2?? But then for some it was scary at the same time...yes WIZKID is huge in the UK..but the O2?! The O2 Arena?!!!
Damn! Africa waited. Come May we would experience greatness even if he didn't sell out the venue,at least he played the arena. It would still be a win.
Then, Champions league final came. an English team was to go through to the final. A team from a country that loves football,

...why!? I remember how the news upset me lol. People panicked...but WIZKID said WE MOVE!
Days to the event, annoucement came in,
SOLD OUT!!!! Wizkid had sold out the O2 Arena days before the ceremony!!

So WIZKID was not only playing the O2,he was selling out the event!! Big win for Afrobeats! Big win for Nigeria! Big win for Africa! We were all stunned! Wiz was actually going to do this,an Africa artiste playing the O2 was actually not a dream!

Wizkid termed it Afro republik, because he was doing this for Africa. He could have decided to term it just WIZKID and lay all the glory to himself,but no...man decided this was for the culture,this was for Africa,this win was for Afrobeats.

That night,was and will always be a night to remember. The night Wiz stunned the whole of Africa. The night that boy from Ojuelegba, Lagos State, Nigeria,played the where even his senior colleagues would only dream of.
