This is primarily a note to myself.
Microsoft Windows 10 upgrades to version 1903 have stopped my WiFi card from recognizing & also blocked manual connection to my home WiFi hotspot.
Strangely enough an app appeared offering subscription to Microsoft hotspots....t
Those are of no use to me on a rather heavy desktop computer tgat remains at home & rarely needs to be online &use my mobile phone as a hotspot.
Luckily enough i found two work arounds.
1st is to simply use my phone data charge cable to usb tether.
2nd ...
2nd an old ethernet to WiFi adapter correctly configured allows pc & phone to be used independently of each other aka the PC can be running an update or few whilst my phone & I are in another....
On a related point, the system upgrades that included the 1909 update in effect destroyed my computer. So much so I'm in the process STILL of system recovery, hopefully by the end of this week, after this nightmare of problems reared its head with the 1903 updates in Dec 2019...
Using the backup drives I'm now reconfiguring my array of HDDs.
Having prepared by data transfer two drives I'm in the process of defragmentation & full check & recovery if possible of any bad sectors etc. On the HDDs...
The next stage is a system restart to complete the required checks on the current emergency boot drive.
Once completed then a series of duplications must be created 1 per drive.
Once drives C & D are duplicated I've got to deep scan & recover from the former boot drive...
If _ when firmer boot drive has been recovered then backup of HDD set as 3 in 1 (3 partitions on a single HDD) this completes this stage.
Next disconnect the emergency boot drive keep as known good....
Next stage is to run Microsoft update including the Microsoft store as required and install essential security updates.
Reboot & check for any errors.
If no known errors aka operating as before updates then duplicate to backup drive...
Once backup completes TRY the 1909 update again to check once & for all if the previous failures were a result of flawed software or are a result of problems with my hardware.
If 1909 update destroys my PC this time it's 99% certain it's a flawed upgrade...
If flawed Microsoft upgrade then duplicate from backup drive to primary boot drive.
I almost forgot that the start menu and notification menu stopped working on my primary admin account, this now obsolete broken account can be deleted after any user files backed up.
This thread is for MY personal situation and my reference as a reminder of what i still have to do.
As a side effect anyone knowing me, wanting to know me won't get me to chat with until the process is completed & my desktop computer is fully functional again...
This major recovery process has taken me almost 24 hours a day everyday in May 2020 so far from 1st May. I'll be lucky if it's finished by 1st June.
I still haven't been able to get the webcam control for camera settings to work properly no matter what I try.
...
Windows built-in camera app is terrible compared with the webcams own software & cyberlink youcam is a much better solution but without the webcams control app things like zooming in and tracking aren't possible.
..i
I DMed Microsoft Windows 10 about the problems including screenshots in this case photographs of the screen before & after the 1909 update but naturally Microsoft are too busy to respond to my complaints.
