Honestly I wish I could pack up the entire US nudist industry and take them on a tour of the large French camps to show them everything they’re doing wrong. I’ve been at 5 French resorts and like 6 or 7 in the US and am certain that almost US nudist camps are garbage.
If you want to know the truth about why I stopped promoting naturism on this account, a lot of it is just that it’s so demoralizing to look what the options available in the US. I know plenty of young people who are very interested in naturism and I have to say: go to France.
When I was at places like Montelivet and La Jenny, I saw no Americans. Not one. I come to the US and talk to nudists here who are so proud of their little trailer parks and I’m like, yeah, but have you seen Monta and 20+ year nudists don’t even know what I’m talking about.
Anyway, there’s lots of historical reasons why US nudism sucks, but if nudist park owners want to start fixing the problem, start with your websites (see the thread I linked to a few minutes ago by @AlmostWildBlog )
And since I am apparently on a rampage right now: For the love of God, you need to ban Confederate fucking flags. This is probably a bigger problem in the south, but there cannot be even the slightest whiff of racism if this movement is to grow.
Also, regarding French resorts: if you don’t really know the difference, watch these videos: There’s a lot of them there that show how nice the French resorts are. If you think there’s something in America that comes close, I’d love to hear about it. https://www.youtube.com/user/naturismetvweb/videos
One misconception I hear from US nudists about France is that some US nudists think the French camps have swingers, which can’t be further from the truth. Cap d’Agde has open swingers, but not the other large resorts. And even at Cap dAgde, it still has plenty of families.
Anyway... I don’t want us to just emulate France. We can be better than France. The US is much bigger than France. There’s no excuse for our camps to be so small and run down. I’m not sure what the solution is, but it starts with admitting that US nudism is a failure.
Once we all admit that US nudism has failed, maybe then we can start to have a real conversation about why that is. I think it starts with understanding that millennials are going to want naturism with an emphasis on social justice and the environment
It’s not go be enough for nudists to just hang out by their little pools naked. The next generations are going to need a naturist movement rooted in actively promoting a better world. What is your camp/resort doing to actively promote a better world?
