how animal crossing new horizons has helped my mental health: a thread
1. it’s something healthy for me to do. i’ve been lowkey going insane during quarantine, and animal crossing has been a healthy coping mechanism for me. when i feel stressed or anxious, it’s a world into which i can disappear and it’s relaxing.
2. everything closes and opens at a certain time. nook’s and able’s close relatively early and so it’s harder for me to play it all night. normally i would pull all nighters playing games, which would severely affect my ability to work hard in school, but the fact that
possibilities are limited after a certain hour is good. also, i have to wake up before a certain time to be able to access things such as turnips. on sundays i have a reason to get up.
3. the community surrounding it. out of the hundreds of people i’ve interacted with, only two or three have had bad intentions. i’ve found multiple people i can now call my friends through the community, and everyone is so sweet. like honestly these people are angels lmao
4. the limitless possibilities. it can often feel like there’s very little reason to get out of bed in the morning, but something cool is that every day presents new possibilities, with npcs, nook’s, able’s, fossils etc. the idea that i have that waiting for me every morning may
seem small and insignificant, but it means the world to me.
