I listened to Chris Jordan on the @PlastispherePod today talking about his time spent on Midway Island photographing albatross dying from plastic in their gut today and how he felt a deep connection to bearing witness as these majestic birds as they died.
He shared how being present in the final moments of these birds’ lives made him feel intensely connected to the moment and the act of living.
Then he shared how he perceived grief as being intimately connected to love. Focusing on his grief, he realized he mourned most what he had come to love deeply.
This Memorial Day, may each of us reflect on what we have individually and collectively loved and lost. May each of us strive to honor the past by acting to ensure a better future.
