Okay so ... Ilhan Omar apparently told NPR her political idol is Margaret Thatcher. And I have feelings.

Or wonderments.

Or ... Actually, I don't know what I have but I'm very confused right now.
I'm kinda with @KHiveQueenBee regarding this in that I WANTED to like Omar, but she's been an absolute disaster. I genuinely celebrated when she first won that seat but it has been an absolute trainwreck since.

And honestly. Margaret Thatcher?? Margaret Thatcher?? Really???
I was actually saying to a friend that I thought maybe ... maybe she was caught off guard. She's one of these performative fake leftists and most female politicians are actually proper liberal and therefore not liked by the Injustice Democrats and Fauxgressives ...
... so maybe she was trying to pull out a really good girl power reference and was like, "Madeline Albright? nope, too Jewy. Hillary Clinton? absolutely not. The notorious RBG? also too Jewy, that lady from New Zealand? No, I've forgotten her name and she's a kiwi ..."
"Can't look up to a kiwi what with them not being Australian and all that. Oh wait! By Jeeves, I've got it! Margaret Thatcher! Well, you've done it again, Omar old girl. Genius save."

In this narration Omar has Andrew Lloyd Webber's voice and intonation.
But I was thinking about that and ... I mean it is fair that there's a huge under-representation of female political power, but ... in all honesty if I was in her situation where I drew a blank like that I just would have gone literally medieval on them and been like, "Khutulun."
And, honestly, I think that's perfect. I mean, firstly if I was rolling up to an interview like that I'd have proper examples prepared that fit into my narrative and doctrine, but seriously Khutulun or really any medieval female leader like her is PERFECT.
I mean, it would be a harder sell but you could also do Erzebet Bathory.

But Khutulun is great. She had many horses which she earned through wrestling men who wanted to marry her. She decided the terms of her own power and life and she was a fearsome warrior.
And like ... firstly ... if a woman has many horses ... Do I really need to tell you more?

But the other wonderful thing about her is if you get trapped you can also just go on a rant about Orientalism and Puccini and segue into the destruction of the image of the powerful woman
But basically the thrust of this thread is ... Margaret Thatcher?? Really?? The Margaret Thatcher who decimated the North of England by treading all over workers' rights? That Margaret Thatcher?? Really??
So yes. The key to American politics I believe is wrestling men who have wagered their horses and not voting Tory.
