Hitting the technically challenging Quadruple Karen:

—Strangling her dog
—Endangering wildlife
—Breaking the law
—Falsely accusing a Black man and putting him in harm’s way https://twitter.com/melodymcooper/status/1264965252866641920
There is a set of white people who see the police as their personal hit squad. This lady underscoring to 911 that she’s being threatened by an “African American” man is totally her telling on herself.

Collaterally interesting thing about this dog incident: The white woman who called the cops is named Amy Cooper. The Black man (brother of @melodyMcooper) is Christian Cooper. Wouldn’t be entirely surprising if there were mutual ancestors generations back.

The name Cooper is very common—it’s like the 60th most common surname in North America. Amy Cooper is Canadian; Melody and Christian are from New York (Long Island). Any common ancestor would likely be way back, in England or Scotland.
But here’s an intersection between two Coopers—one white, one Black—of similar socioeconomic status and educational background. Amy: VP of investments at Franklin Templeton, grad of U of Waterloo and U of Chicago. Christian: Marvel Comics editor & science writer. Harvard grad.
Neither knew the other. But despite Christian’s unassuming demeanor & politeness, Amy instantly read him as a “threatening Black man” & tried to SWAT him by cop.

White Cooper. Black Cooper.

An interaction that should provoke thought about the nature of white privilege.
