ThreadSpent last day or so sorting out my house-catching up with washing & cleaning, going for a walk & picnic,sorting kids bicycles & tackling garden-as I’d promised to do some basics with/for them over BkHol after beingnon stop since lockdown on both constituency/Govt Biz

We have been at home in Mid Sussex since early March. My inbox been on fire with worries & queries from people all across patch from care,business queries, job issues,safety concerns & being an MP has been hugely challenging when advising/helping in the complex/changing situation

Been really challenging being at home-with some Covid type symptoms on our house early on in the situation & was lucky to have help from local friends & I have been supporting my eldery worried neighbours-we have always stuck by the rules & clear people locally have done this too

Dominic Cummings press statement tonight-very difficult viewing. As single parent-greatly understand challenge of pandemic & need to understand exceptional circumstances & the need to interpret/understand guidelines. This detailed explanation ideally could have come much quicker

Being at heart of government at any level in midst of this public health & now economic emergency cannot be quantified in terms of huge pressure/challenge.Therefore questionable decisions will be made at different times & we will all be rightly critical of those & their outcomes

I am meanwhile concerned to see any family home becoming a target. We want real people in politics & part of that deal is we make/made human decisions & are under massive strain. As I read from the emails-I’ve received a mix of views-strong support,huge condemnation,anger & pain

I have read through the hundreds of notes & will be fully replying to these emails throughout the day tomorrow & I appreciate all the thoughts that have gone into them.We are now moving into a balance of recovery stage & managing the virus-where vigilance & community focus is key

I want to do this in a way that works for jobs,business & community-we can’t do this in midst of an additional schism. I’m determined to play my part & recognise mistakes & regrets are part of leadership. Fully recognise I’m of the elected ones & we must all get on & do our jobs
