The Liberals have spent seven years creating a tradie crisis in Australia – with $3 billion cut from TAFE and training, widespread skills shortages, and 140,000 apprentices and trainees gone.
If the Government proposes some sensible changes to the training system, Labor will support them. But Scott Morrison’s announcement today is no solution to the tradie crisis he created.
After nearly seven years of the Liberals, $3 billion has been cut from TAFE and training.

Australia has fewer apprentices and trainees today than when the Liberals first came to office.

140,000 apprentices and trainees have been lost.
Close to half of apprentices and trainees aren’t finishing their training.

Is it any wonder our nation has a shortage of bricklayers, plumbers, hairdressers, panelbeaters, and other critical tradies?
