Ground crew and helicopter, along with 5 volunteer fire departments and additional helicopter, are responding to wildfire in Havre Boucher, Antigonish Co. Fire considered to be out of control. About 50 ha. No identified structures at risk at this time. Cause under investigation.
Update 9PM: Fire near Frankville area 200 ha and considered out of control. Six fire departments responding. Helicopters and crews are packing up for the evening but Lands and Forestry will return at first light along with local fire departments.
Update - Tuesday 10:15 AM - Helicopter and ground crews returned to Frankville area early this morning. Incident command centre has been established and 31 VFD personnel and 17 L&F wildfire crew on scene. Fire is 200 ha and 40% contained.
Update -- Tuesday 1 PM -- Currently 31 municipal fire fighters, 22 Lands and Forestry personnel and 1 helicopter on scene. Fire is approximately 148 ha and 50% contained. Considered out of control but being held at this time.
Update -- Tuesday 3:15 PM -- Fire is approximately 70% contained.
Update -- Tuesday 5:45 PM -- Fire considered under control. 148 ha and 75% contained. Helicopter has been released from duty and 22 Lands and Forestry personnel and 31 municipal firefighters remain on site attending to hotspots.
Update – Tuesday 9:15 PM – Fire remains under control. 148 ha and 75% contained. Crews are packing up for the evening and will return at first light to continue patrol.
