Dami has pushed me to make the announcement that I was reserving first for her alone.

Since I’m clearly too lazy to update and do YouTube editing,
I’ve decided to start a Nigerian/African Feminist podcast.

The name of the podcast is “The Highly Disobedients”. https://twitter.com/omogedami/status/1264194800573710340
I’ll be discussing what it means to be a Nigerian woman.
There would be interviews with Nigerian feminists across a wide range of ethnic and religious backgrounds.

Discussions would centre topics like deciding to be a childfree in Nigeria.
Being an irreligious woman.
I would also aim to bridge the divide between religious feminists and irreligious feminists.

There would also be interviews with female authors.
Discussions on sex, being queer women and issues around sexual reproductive rights would be there too.
It won’t be just me all the time.
The Highly Disobedients pod is like the name implies.

African women and in particular Nigerian women who are living loud disobedient lives.

Whether disobeying the patriarchy by advocating for inclusivity in mental health for women.
Or in body positivity for fat women the way @bigchiefenkay does.
Or in breaking the silence around PCOS and infertility the way women like @KarinaKarunwi have done for me.
Or normalizing gothic styles of dressing and cat moms like @ybnl_princess and @kikimordi keep doing.
All of it would be a safe space for Nigerian women to reinvent new ways of being.

The title of the podcast actually comes from the COZA protests when Nigerian feminists were called “Children of Disobedience”.

It intrigued me when my friend @NwaBabyOne,
had “Aditi, Highly Disobedient” as her name for a while.

I’m always keen on feminist naming patterns so I’m like for Nelo to say this, there deffs are levels to disobedience.

I aim that the podcast would be a true reflection of the fact that Nigerian women stay disobeying.
Once all is set and I am done with all that beguiles school work,
I shall get to work and update this thread with the introductory episode.
Daalu nu.
