bothered by reiki being advertised as “start level 1 and earn your mastership in a weekend” when people are expecting to practice at a master level before they get to the class, not realizing practice is needed to get there.
i’m not bashing anyone who offers these or participates/receives attunements that way! i got attuned to level 2 on the same day i learned about level 1 and didn’t have the money to take the master class at the time, but i probably would have if i did.
and i’m about to be attuning and teaching others the same way lmao my issues are not with how it’s learned or attunements are given!
the issue comes with the disconnect and it’s something i’ve been thinking about more as i come into my role as a teacher. and i don’t know if it’s people who don’t know much about reiki/energy work going into it with that mindset or lack of transparency bc it’s a bit
harder to sell an “intensive” class when there’s additional effort implied but that is the nature of working with energy?
although it happens faster for some than others, it’s not an instant career change. i waited 3.5 years from when i first learned about reiki to even get to the point where it was okay for me to be attuned to that level of receptivity!
this might tie in with what some other people have said about opening your third eye too quickly. and maybe it’s bothering me bc i wasn’t crystal clear with the course i’m offering that you can’t just practice on others right away.
i read & historically have read very little about energy work and different techniques or modalities bc i like the challenge of figuring it out myself but i’m also aware of the fact that just bc something works for others doesn’t mean it’ll work for me and vice versa.
*aside from reading about protection stuff before/once attuned to reiki bc all boxes need to be checked when it comes to that imo lmao. and that’s in comparison to what else i read bc i’m always learning
and i don’t read about it because i figure it out on my own and that level of validation always came from myself one way or another. the validation also comes from working with others and being effective. if anything, i’ll research to confirm after the fact lmfao.
i’ve read way more about psychology, biology, and physics but those are all energy works too that are more accepted in a larger context.
when learning about different learning types, i was always that one btch adamant about being a kinesthetic learner even when teachers were like “well it’s actually not that common to be predominantly kinesthetic”
then why is it identified in its own category?? concepts are great but wtf happens to them when applied to real life? maybe i just love learning by experience who knows!!!
and in writing out this thread my whole life is validated because i’m recognizing where my differences are of value and ridding myself of perceived weaknesses in my head. i’m golden.
