Memorial Day honors those selfless Americans who have served for our country and paid the ultimate sacrifice - their lives - for the liberties that we get to enjoy. For most, this weekend is usually a carefree celebration.
I usually go to a cemetery to pay my respects to those fallen men and women on this day each year before all the usual parties etc that we are lucky to enjoy. This year I am staying home to pay my respects to them and everyone else.
Never forget those who paid in sacrifice with their life, and their families and friends. The things that we enjoy on sunny afternoons like today had real costs & came out of real tragedy. It’s time we take things a little more seriously & be willing to make sacrifices ourselves.
“It is for us the living to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain”
