Points I noticed from today's Cummings press conference, none great surprises:-
- As later with the PM, journalists all asked pretty much the same question. Their objective is not to elicit more knowledge but to have a clip of them asking that question to show on their channel.
Cummings acknowledged mistakes have been made. That is true. It opens the door to "tell me the mistakes" but the point there is that Cummings may think they were mistakes but others may differ, and time may change that opinion. That is something to look at some way down the road.
Cummings said the most precious commodity is time with the PM. This is especially so when, as now, the team is under extreme pressure. The team must be able to make their own decisions.

He rightly didn't ask if his decisions were right or wrong, he asked if they were reasonable.
Cummings is not a scientist, nor an engineer. He studied history. He said he filled his (diesel) car up with "petrol".

He kept his cool. He was thus able to let the journalists exhaust themselves on questions.
Cummings told them his child was taken by ambulance to hospital and that his uncle died of Covid19. Not one journalist expressed any sympathy whatsoever.
