A Thread Of My Top Albums of 2019:
15. Let The Sun Talk - Mavi

A super personal and interesting take on the genre, Mavi is obviously influenced by Earl, but still manages to create a distinct sound separate from his influences.

Some standout tracks are: Daylight Savings, Sense, and Self Love
14. 2009 - Wiz & Curren$y

These two never get talked about on here, but both are legends and together create one of the best hip hop duos in history (yea I said it 😡) this sequel to How Fly didn’t disappoint.

My fav tracks are: Garage Talk, Gettin Loose, and No Clout Chasin
13. Dirt Road Diamond - Childish Major

A great, concise set of songs that seems almost effortless. The only problem I had with this is that it wasn’t longer! It has a GREAT Luda verse too.

Check out: No Sweat, Feelings Hurt, and Not Numb
12. Die For My Bitch - Baby Keem

Baby Keem just humbled a model!!!!

This was easily the most quotable project from the last year, he takes a familiar trap sound and makes it uniquely his own. I’ve been calling the album “TrapDAMN.”

Listen to Orange Soda, Moshpit, and Honest
11. Slimerre - Young Nudy

This Nudy x Pierre Bourne project is such an enjoyable listen, it’s perfectly produce and features some of Nudy’s best rapping to date! I only wish Pissy Pamper was able to be on here :(

My fav songs are: Mister, Joker, Extendo, and Sunflower Seeds
10. The Lost Boy - YBN Cordae

This is about as good as a debut project can get, Cordae really does his thing on here!

He linked with Dre and released what was one of the most complete 2019 albums and def deserved the Grammy nom.

Check out Lost and Found, RNP, and Have Mercy!
9. Uknowwhatimsayin - Danny Brown

Danny took what he was most known for, his weirdness, and combined that with his (and Q-Tip’s) musical prowess to release probably the most interesting sounding album from 2019.

Listen to: Savage Nomad, 3 Tearz, Combat, and Negro Spiritual
8. Operation Hennessy - Qari and Greensllime

Qari laces each track with slick rhyme schemes that are somehow both monotone and super melodic at the same time while Greensllime gives each track the lofi Midas touch.

Listen to Pony, What I Want, and Billy Blanks!
7. Ignorance is Bliss - Skepta

My first true introduction to Skepta, this album is still in constant rotation for me today! It’s got brilliant production and Skepta consistently matches it with great flows.

Stream Bullet From a Gun, Redrum, and You Wish!
6. Foto - Kota The Friend

This is one of the chillest albums I think I’ve ever listened to, Kota has the perfect sound for any Memorial Day cookouts you might be at right now!

My favs from Foto are: Hollywood, Backyard, and Solar Return!

Also go stream Everything!!
5. ROTD 3 - Dreamville

This album is what happens when you take a huge selection of great people, who also happen to be artists, and get them together to create something bigger than themselves.

My favs are: Under The Sun, 1993, Wells Fargo, and Don’t Hit Me Right Now
4. Everybody Eats - MFnMelo

This album is damn near perfect from start to finish, Melo dropped this right around Thanksgiving and I don’t think I’ve gone more than a couple days in a row without revisiting since then.

Listen to New York, What A Life, and Flow Seats!
3. Bandana - Freddie Gibbs and Madlib

Might get hate for having this at 3, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love this album! I almost thought it’d be impossible for them to up the ante after Piñata, but they did it here.

My favs are: Freestyle Shit, Cataracts, and Palmolive
2. Everything’s For Sale - Boogie

One of the first truly great albums of 2019, Boogie really delivered on this one here. EFS somehow is able to slap in the whip, be personal, and have great features without taking any of the spotlight away from Boogie.

Stream it all tbh!
Last but not least 👀👀
1. You Can’t Sit With Us - Pivot Gang

How the fuck do you make a collab album this good? Like for real. This is a 10/10 and truly my favorite from 2019. There literally is not a bad verse on this entire album.

Stream Colbert, No Vest, Clark Kent and Jason Statham, Pt 2!!
