The backyard barbecue doesn't honor them. A 25% Off sale doesn't honor them. One day or one weekend of flags and speeches and temporary profile photo frames and solemn vows quickly forgotten doesn't honor them.

Show your appreciation for their sacrifice by taking responsibility for what they left behind.

- Write to your representatives about things you object to.
- Don't pour motor oil into the storm drain.
- Vote to give more funding to public schools.

- Spend money with small, local businesses instead of large corporations.
- Introduce yourself and be welcoming to new neighbors, even if they don't look like you, *especially* if they don't look like most of your other neighbors.

- Stand up and say "No" to those who would drag us backward instead of helping us advance.
- Be open to getting told you're wrong about something, and putting in the effort to change.
- WEAR. A. MASK.

If you would honor the dead, honor them *every* day.
