My thoughts on soulmates au; a thread
In this thread, I'll be talking about the type of soulmate au where there is a person out there that is destined to be your one and only.
it's not that they're bad or anything, it's just that realistically speaking, what do you think are the odds that you're soulmate is...
1. near your age
2. lives anywhere near you
3. on the same timeline as yours
4. not a dick or anything
5. alive

That great, huh?
Now to know that someone out there is destined for you is quite scary, don't you think?

It restricts the freedom for you to love who you want to love (for some people). The idea of being tied to someone seems a bit terrifying and downright disturbing.
Think about it!

Say you love someone, but they are not your soulmate. You subconsciously feel guilty that you're "cheating" on your soulmate, when you can't even say for sure if your so-called one and only can even return the same sentiment.
you're always feeling guilty and unsatisfied knowing that the person you love isn't the one destined for you , which could hurt your relationship (if you so choose to be in one).
There's a lot of doubt instilled in you, a lot of conflicts.

So imagine a story centred around this exact scenario.
Person A is starting to realize their love for Person B, and vice versa (but they don't know that they like each other yet). Both A & B are aware that they are not soulmates, and yet they couldn't help but feel infatuated with each other.
Their biggest obstacle to overcome is not to admit their love for each, but to accept that they are not, in fact, soulmates.

In a world where you're destined for someone and vice versa, that's the harshest and hardest thing you can do.
You have to live and revel on the idea that the person you have chosen to love is not who you were born to be with, rather they are someone whom you have chosen to love unconditionally. You love this person because you want to, not because you are born to, not because you have to
A & B have chosen to love each other and went against what destiny wants for them, because in the end they realize that loving someone is a choice that they can make, and letting go of their "soulmate" mentality is an option that they can also consider.
"1 in billions of people is destined to be my lover, but I still chose to love you."

-Person A to Person B
That's all~

I hope y'all enjoyed it <3
