This is a brief thread that I’d recommend any American to read on this day. https://twitter.com/dariodibattista/status/1264929389210370050
Today my thoughts are with the dead and their families. The men and women who gave everything in service of the United States of America. I’ve seen the impact of their sacrifice in the lives of my many family members and friends who have served...
...my thoughts are with these men and women as well as they memorialize their fallen friends and family today (and every day). I think of my grandfather who was a Marine and fought in some of the bloodiest and most well-known battles in the Pacific during WWII and Korea...
He made it home and started a family. So many of the men he served with did not; and our family and our nation owes them and their families a debt we cannot repay. I think of my father’s many classmates & friends he served with whose names we located on trips to The Wall in DC...
...men who never came home from Vietnam, whose lives and service echo in our family and our nation. I think of the veterans I met and befriended filming Thank You For Your Service, and I know all too well the impact they feel on this day, and every day...
...over the loss of so many of their friends, brothers, sisters. And I continue to think about the men and women who have been casualties of a war that followed them home.
Nothing we can do could possibly repay what the fallen have given us. At the very least, we owe them our solemn gratitude. And we owe them our commitment to continually bettering this nation they died serving. ❤️
Wow, this thread. Thank you for doing and sharing this Emily.
