being friends with people older than me is something i appreciate and i think my older mutuals are a lot of fun but one of my biggest mistakes on twitter was assuming that people older than me knew how to act around a 13 year old.

when you’re young on twitter, the fact that older people want to be friends with you and have conversations with you is really appealing. after a while i started believing that adults talking about nsfw stuff around me was okay bc i was mature

i didn’t realize that i almost had an emotional dependence on people older than me. i wasn’t mature enough to know which older friends of mine were positive so i thot that ppl who talked abt mature things w me respected me. i developed a liking to them which became hurt

like i thought it was completely normal for a 13 year old to be convincing people years older than me not to kill themself. i thought we were equals so it was okay. we were not

i’ll probably delete this thread later but i have a lot of feelings rn and this is all in short to say

if you are a minor, esp if you are 14 and younger, know that you can have mutuals who are not toxic, who don’t make you feel like you depend on them. if someone makes you uncomfortable, you don’t have to be their friend.

my mutuals rn understand that i’m younger than them and don’t talk about inappropriate shit with me. just know that it’s so easy to be manipulated on this app- even if you’re smart
