A thread on my favorite music concerts (a.k.a. my all playlist) #AfricaDay
There is only one way to start this. The late Khaira Arby from Timbuktu. The reason why I’m hooked to African music some four or five years ago.

Full:
Sona Jobarteh from the Gambia. The first female professional kora player to come from a Griot family. My favorite musician in the entire world and the band at this concert was gargantuan.
And she has an Academy of Music and Culture. Here’s one of the kids from the institution absolutely killing it in a big stage.
Multiple Grammy Award nominee from Mali, the unmistakable Fatoumata Diawara.
Rokia Traore. I’m not even sure which song is my favorite here. Loved it from start to finish.

Full:
Gasandji from Congo. You gotta love her enthusiasm and moves. Catchy pieces of music, too.

Full:
A new addition to my West African music obsession, Marema from Senegal. Basically 90% of the music I’m hearing the past month or so is from this concert.
End of thread for now.
